2024 CTLT Winter Institute: A call for contributions

Classroom Wellbeing: Sustainable, Inclusive, Flexible

The Winter Institute will be hosted online and in-person from December 9 to 11, 2024.

2024 Winter Institute Format: The Winter Institute will be presented over three days.

  • Day 1 will be presented in-person. In-person sessions will be 90 minutes.
  • Day 2 and 3 will be presented online with 60- or 90-minute sessions.

This year, we’re reimagining the Winter Institute as a “wellbeing potluck,” co-created by the UBC teaching and learning community. Rather than formal proposals, we invite you to share your “secret ingredients”—ideas and strategies for fostering and enhancing learning environments that benefit everyone: faculty, staff, and students.

In 200 words or less, tell us what “dishes” (insights, methods, or tools for creating a sustainable, inclusive, and flexible classroom) you will bring to the potluck.

Consider these questions to guide your submission:

  • What defines a ‘classroom’? What does ‘classroom wellbeing’ mean to you?
  • How do you build classroom wellbeing?
  • What tools or activities have you used that you feel contribute to the wellbeing of your students?
  • What have you learned from your students and colleagues about what keeps them well and engaged in the classroom?
  • What have you learned about keeping yourself well?
  • How have you applied Canvas or other learning technologies to enhance wellbeing in your classroom?

If you have any questions, please contact Ainsley Camps ainsley.camps@ubc.ca
